So I’m trying to download a app and it asks for my payment info the app is free so I don’t know why it’s asking for my payment info so I put in my payment information and then it tells me to contact iTunes support

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Seems Apple requires a payment method in your Apple ID account for the first time you use the App Store or iTunes, this is even if you are only downloading free apps.
