How to make Siri answer me with text, not speech.

I updated the OS (16.1.1) and now Siri speak out loud. I want it to go back to text only, like it did before the update.

Hi RookieiPhoneUserofNote,

We appreciate you reaching out to us. We understand that you would like to prevent Siri from responding and just show the speech script.

First, let's make sure that Spoken Responses is set to Automatic.

This setting will use on-device intelligence to automatically determine when to speak.

Also, please enable Always Show Siri Captions.

This setting will show what Siri says on the screen

You can find these settings under Settings > Siri & Search > Siri Responses.

You have the option to use the Ring/Silent switch, and put the device to Silent mode to completely prevent Siri from responding.

You can learn more about these settings in the article;e below.
