I’m trying to buy a game with gift card balance and it keeps saying I have to verify payment, when I continue, it brings up add payment. Then it says you won’t be charged until make a purchase.

When redeeming a gift card, (1) the amount will be credited to your Apple ID balance and (2) then you need to set your Apple ID balance as your default payment.
