I have physically installed a SATA SSD in place of the optical drive. I have formated the drive and am struggling to install an OS on and boot from the SSD. I have used revovery mode to erase the drive and tried to install the OS. I am getting very confused.
iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13
SuperDuper was super duper. Copied my entire HDD to internal SSD and I have now booted up using the SSD. Things appear quicker. I only used a cheap SSD from ebay, as my machine is a bit ancient. Worth the effort though.

I found another post that used super duper and am trying that now. So far so good.
