Email On iPad & iPhone no longer syncing after iOS update to 16

Email from Earthlink, Yahoo and Gmail download to both my iPhone 8 running iOS 16 and iPad Pro running iOS 16 - as well as my desktop. However, none are syncing. The desktop never synced and I never found out a solution. But now when I delete from my phone, the email is not deleted from my iPad. So I have to delete from all 3 devices individually. I deleted my gmail account from my iPad. Shut down. Then opened and re-added it. Nothing changed. Nothing syncs. Any help solving this problem would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Just to clarify, when you say that your email accounts are not syncing between your Apple devices, do you mean when you open/delete a email on one device is not show as opened/deleted from other devices? Are all your devices up-to-date on software?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Just to clarify, when you say that your email accounts are not syncing between your Apple devices, do you mean when you open/delete a email on one device is not show as opened/deleted from other devices? Are all your devices up-to-date on software?

All email downloads to my iPad and my iPhone properly. I am able to read them on any device.


If I delete an email from my iPhone it remains on my iPad. It is not deleted from my iPad.


If I delete an email from my iPad it is also removed from my iPhone. This is good.


All email, whether deleted from my iPhone or my iPad, remains in my various accounts when I log into my desktop pc.


It would be ideal if email was able to be deleted on any of my 3 devices, and be removed from the others automatically.


I hope my explanation is clearer this time. I did look at the links you provided. I have had devices for many years and understand how to add email accounts. Thank you for trying to assist me.

If you don't currently have iCloud Mail enabled, let's temporarily enable it on your iPhone and iPad using the steps below to see if we can replicate this behavior.


1. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud.
2. If you want to send and receive iCloud Mail on your device, do one of the following:
• iOS 16, iPadOS 16, or later: Tap Mail, then turn on Use on this [device].


You can also find those steps in this resource: Set up iCloud Mail on all your devices - Apple Support


On your PC you can use the iCloud website to check your mail: iCloud Mail


If needed, you can send yourself a few test emails, and then delete them to see if those changes sync between your devices.
