Do not disturb icon does not appear on lock screen or status bar after iOS16.1 install

Hello. Forced to upgrade iPhone 12 to buggy iOS 16 because no security updates for 15. Now do not disturb icon does not appear on lock screen or status bar, so I'm unsure if it's on or not. Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Hello.

Thank you for your prompt, helpful reply. A friend previously told me about the Control Center method, and it works. I'd rather not have to use it because I always have to swipe two or three times to get the control center instead of other options. It was easy before to go through Settings and turn it on. One can't now, and I'm not sure if that's by design or defect?

Here's a plea to Apple (and Microsoft): I dread updates because you can't seem to stop changing/moving things around for no apparent reason - please stop! Also, please don't destroy useful functionality so one can use 70 more smiling cat emojis. For some (many?) the phone is a tool, not a plaything, and we just need it to work with the least confusion and inconvenience possible.

Hello justworkplease1,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. What happens if you turn on "Focus" from the Control Center? Here's how to access Control Center on your iPhone: Access Control Center on your iPhone

With Focus in iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 or later, you can use Do Not Disturb to silence calls, alerts, and notifications that you get while your device is locked. You can also schedule Do Not Disturb and allow calls from certain people.

When you have Do Not Disturb turned on, a crescent moon icon  appears in the status bar and on your Lock Screen.

You also have the option to have Siri do it. "Hey Siri, turn on Do Not Disturb." Also, when Do Not Disturb is turned on, I can see it on the lock screen, when I wake it up without unlocking it, it is written out between the Flashlight and Camera icons.

As far as your plea to Apple, for them to see your comments you need to send that to them via the Feedback link. Apple does not use the forum here to get suggestions from users. Here is the link, Feedback - iPhone - Apple
