Spotlight search in Finder takes long time with "Loading..." message
Upgraded iMac from Catalina to Ventura. Spotlight seems to behave weird. Sometimes, a simple file search in a very small folder on the Macintosh HD takes a long time, at least 30seconds, with "Loading..." in Finder. There is no other file system mounted. I expect some result would show up immediately as I typed in partial text.
I ran the following command, and it reported Spotlight server is disabled. This is weird. The main HD is indexed. Why spotlight is disabled? I am sure this is not disabled manually.
% mdutil -s /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD
Spotlight server is disabled.
Then run the following based on some recommendation from other forum, but failed.
% sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist
Password:
/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist: service already loaded
Load failed: 37: Operation already in progress
Then run the following again, and it says "Indexing enabled."
% mdutil -s /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD
/:
Indexing enabled.
Even with Indexing enabled, sometimes, "Loading..." message still shows up. Any idea?
