Hi kristupas217,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you'd like to record your screen and still be able to hear what you're recording, correct?

As long as the app you're recording will allow you to record sound in a screen recording, you can ensure that your Mac microphone is enabled when you start the recording as outlined here: How to record the screen on your Mac - Apple Support

Use QuickTime Player
1. Open QuickTime Player from your Applications folder, then choose File > New Screen Recording from the menu bar.
• If you see the onscreen controls described above, follow those steps.
• If you see the Screen Recording window described below, follow those steps.
2. Before starting your recording, you can click the arrow next to the Record button  to change the recording settings:
QuickTime screen recording settings• To record your voice or other audio with the screen recording, choose a microphone. To monitor that audio during recording, adjust the volume slider. If you get audio feedback, lower the volume or use headphones with a microphone.
• To show a black circle around your pointer when you click, choose Show Mouse Clicks in Recording.
3. To start recording, click the Record button  and then take one of these actions:
• Click anywhere on the screen to begin recording the entire screen.
• Or drag to select an area to record, then click Start Recording within that area.
4. To stop recording, click the Stop button  in the menu bar, or press Command-Control-Esc (Escape).
5. After you stop recording, QuickTime Player automatically opens the recording. You can now play, edit, or share the recording.

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

to record the mac's internal sound with quicktime you need additional software. i use the free BlackHole Virtual Audio Driver. then you can choose "BlackHole 2ch" in the recording options instead of "Built-in Microphone."

you will also need to set up a multi-output device in your audio MIDI setup utility to be able to both hear and record the internal audio at the same time.

to set up a multi-output device:

Open Audio MIDI Setup: (found in /Applications/Utilities)

hit the '+' button in the bottom left corner and select "Create Multi Output Device"

then in the panel that appears on the right, in the Multi-Output Device tab, select "Built-in Output" AND "BlackHole 2ch". (and, if you want, any of your other connected devices.)

once you do that, (and BEFORE recording) you can choose "BlackHole 2ch" or "Multi-Output Device" in your menubar "sound options".

to both hear the speakers and record the audio at the same time, choose "Multi-Output Device". before choosing multi-out, set the internal speakers' volume to a comfortable level first. you cannot control the volume once you are in multi-out mode.

The problem with that method is that the sound that gets recorded with the video will be the sound as output from the Mac speakers and recorded via the Mac's built-in microphone. Lots of opportunity for low quality & ambient sounds getting recorded along with the video.

Better solution is to use an app that can re-route system and/or application audio directly to a recording app. Good paid apps include Soundsource and Loopback; shareware such as BlackHole Audio will also work.

Even better is to use a real video capture & recording app like Screenflow.
