Foxfifth:
That no longer works in Ventura.
From Leonie:
"Which system version is running on your new Mac?
On macOS 13 Ventura you can no longer open iPhoto Libraries in Photos for Mac.
If you already are running Ventura, you can only import the iPhoto Library to Photos.
This will import the original image files from your iPhoto Library, but not the albums and events. The last system version, where you could migrate iPhoto Libraries as a library and create a new Photos Library from your iPhoto Library, has been macOS 12 Monterey.
If you are still using macOS 12 or earlier, Photos should be able to open the iPhoto Library, if it is a Library from iPhoto '9 or iPhoto '11. But you may have imported items into very old libraries, videos or image files, in a format, that cannot be processed by Photos 5 or later. Since the upgrade to macOS 10.15 Catalina some older codecs are no longer supported by the system."

Hold down the option key while opening the Photos app (which is the app that replaced iPhotos); it will then give you the option to select your iPhotos library and it will open and convert it to Photos.
Thanks Keith. I wasn't aware of that. Guess it's not surprising Apple quit supporting that after all this time.
BTW, I might have questioned your reply if you hadn't included the quote from Léonie. I trust her completely, you I'm not so sure! 😀
That is why I brought in the big guns!
What about with iPhone? For some reason or another I find pictures missing and replaced with pictures I didn’t take?
