Ever since I upgraded to macOS Ventura, selected text are not highlighted

Hi,

Does macOS Ventura change the way selections are highlighted? They use to highlight blue, but now selected text doesn't show any highlighting, so I can't tell if it is selected.

Mac Pro, macOS 13.0

Check System Settings > Appearance > Highlight color.

I can no longer highlight text on my new MacBook Air like I always did on my old one. Why has this changed? I can no longer highlight text on many apps on my new MacBook Air like I always did on my old one. Why has this changed as it keeps highlighting one word for a definition?

How can I turn off the 'highlight text' function in Preview? Sometimes I cannot turn off the 'highlight text' function in Preview. That means I cannot use 'underline' or 'strikethrough' because any text I select will automatically get a coloured highlight instead. My only solution when this occurs is to close and reopen the document. Is this a bug or am I missing something in a menu, key stroke or the touch-sensitive LED bar above the keyboard? In Notes, in Safari, Microsoft Edge, TextEdit, Xcode, and others I don't recall at this time. It seems to affect the entire operating system.
