Music always offline?

Hi. I have an iPad Air 5th Gen running iOS 16.1.1. WiFi only; in strong reception area.


Every time I open the Music app it says I am offline. Sometimes closing the app and re-opening fixes it; sometimes it doesn't. Can't find any specific cause. Any ideas? Was kinda hoping the recent iOS update would fix it but it didn't!

The phone can verify your location over cellular so even though your data is routed through the VPN, apple can be sure what country you are in. A non-cellular ipad can't do that. I suspect the phone would have similar issues on wifi and airplane mode

Fantastic - that has fixed it! When I upgraded to iOS 16 the same issue affected CarPlay, in that I had to disable the VPN for CarPlay to work. That was resolved in the 16.1.1 update but clearly it still affects the iPad (but strangely not Music on iPhone iOS). Hopefully it will be resolved in the next update…! Thanks again.
