Why is the front view capture for setting up personalized spatial audio not working?

Iphone 14 Pro Max 1 TB and Airpod Pro Gen 2

Trying to setup personalize spatial audio. Front view capture comes up but it never finishes the lower half of my face. The progress indicators are only the upper half of circle no matter how I move my head or how far I hold the phone away. Just that down arrow that keeps coming up regardless of how I move my head up, down, or sideways. The arrow is very frustrating because it does not intuitively tell ME what I'm supposed to be doing to make it work. So, can someone smarter tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to get this to work?

While you may need to get in touch with Apple Support about this, we'd like to first rule out some possible causes to this happening while trying to set up Spatial Audio with your AirPods on your iPhone:

Are the steps you're taking to do this the ones listed under 'Turn on spatial audio on your iPhone or iPad' in this link? Check out: Listen with spatial audio for AirPods and Beats
Has a restart been tried for your iPhone, along with a reset of your AirPods? Check out the steps for both here: Restart your iPhone and How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro
As you have a compatible model, the latest version for your iPhone would be iOS 16.1.1. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.
