How do I stop Apple Music from automatically opening when my Bluetooth headphones are connected?

Recently the Apple Music software has begun to start up when my mobile telephone rings on an incoming telephone call.

My Bluetooth headsets are paired to both the MacOS and the mobile telephone.

(MacOS Monterey Version 12.6 on a 2019 Macbook Pro.)

This behavior is bit disturbing. I've read elsewhere in this forum that this activity is by design. It can be fixed by a simple command line O/S hack, scary.

The hack suggested is:

sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.rcd.plist

Will this resolve with an operating system upgrade?

Hello Neil22R,

Thanks for the interest, however, I'll not be calling in on this issue.

I see my initial post was incorrect, I wrote "Apple Music software has begun to start up when my mobile telephone rings" ... That's backward, it is that Apple Music starts after the mobile call has completed.

From this forum I can see this is a very long standing issue with Mac OS X.

If I recall, at least one case I read through identified it as a feature. I'm skeptical.

I suspect the mobile telephone is sending some sort of "resume playing" command via the bluetooth connection and somehow the Apple Music software is started. (I'm sure Apple Music has run on this laptop, however, I'm not an Apple Music user aside from knowing it exists.)

It comes down to learning where in OS X this feature can be disabled, but as I mentioned, it may be a feature that is not adjustable.

Something similar happens with my iPad, for a few months when I bluetooth connected the headphones, music began to play - took me a while to identify it was some sort of Apple Music like thing, whatever that's named on an iPad. Weird.
