Stop sharing playlist with child account

We have a family subscription. For some reason, any playlist I add shows up on my child’s account and vice versa. I do not want her to access my playlists. How can I set up her account on her iPhone to only have her playlists? She is signed into her account so I don’t understand the problem.

I am not trying to publicly share/hide my playlists. I am just wanting to not share them with my child’s account. The other members of my family do not see my playlists but they show up under her account.

Hello queenb81,

You can sign out from Settings > [Your name] > Media & Purchases > Sign out. This will sign you out of iTunes and the App Store. If you are using Apple Music and have any music downloaded for offline listening, those will be removed as well.

If you need to sign out of your Apple ID in all apps, you can use the guidance from Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac.

"Sign out on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. Go to Settings > [your name].
  2. Scroll down to the bottom.
  3. At the bottom of an iPhone screen there's a Sign Out button with red text.
  4. Tap Sign Out.
  5. Enter your Apple ID password and tap Turn Off. Forgot your Apple ID password
  6. Turn on the data that you want to keep a copy of on your device.
  7. Tap Sign Out.
  8. Tap Sign Out again to confirm that you want to sign out of iCloud."

Cheers!

Hi queenb81,

Thank you for posting to Apple Support Communities.

Let's work on hiding what you're listening to. This can help stop access to your playlists. To complete this, follow these steps:

  1. "Tap Listen Now, then tap the My Account button or your profile picture.
  2. Tap View Profile.
  3. Touch and hold the playlist or album (below Listening To).
  4. Tap Hide from Profile."

This information is provided in See what your friends are listening to - Apple Support.

Take care.

Hello queenb81,

Did you have a chance to verify that you are sharing your playlists as well?

You can choose to share the music that you’re listening to with followers on your profile. If you make your listening history and playlists private, your profile picture and user name will still be visible in Search. To remove yourself entirely, delete your Apple Music profile.

Share or hide your playlists
1. At the top of your profile, tap Edit.
2. Select the playlists that you want to share on your profile and in Search. And deselect the ones that you want to hide.
3. Tap Done.

That information is from the same site that was previously linked: See what friends are listening to in Apple Music on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device - Apple Support.

Kind regards!

queenb81,

It may help to double-check the Apple ID signed into each device being used. We noted you mentioned they're signed in on theirs, though there are a couple spots to check on, just to be sure.

In Settings > [name], it'll list an Apple ID at the top here. After checking on that, have each person check the devices used in Settings > [name] > Media & Purchases > View Account.

In the Music app itself, tap on the profile icon at the top-right in the Listen Now tab.

If either person happens to use multiple devices, be sure to check those as well.

Cheers.
