imessage storage is 30GB even when icloud is activated

Currently on iMessage the Document & Data is 30GB and below Top conversation is 20GB, Photos is 27GB, so I guess these are on iCloud.

but why is iMessage still taking up 30GB? whenever I delete stuff, iMessage will take up that space.

how can I reduce without deleting the messages.

Hello yickjacky66,

It could be photo attachments that are taking up the storage in Messages. You can use the steps here to find and delete them:

View photos and videos shared with you on iPhone – Apple Support

  1. "Tap For You, then scroll down to Shared with You.
  2. Do any of the following:
    • Tap a photo to view it in full screen, save it to your library, share it, or delete it.
    • Tap See All to view all photos shared with you.
    • Tap the name of the person who shared the photo, then reply to them using the Messages app.

You can also tap Library, then tap All Photos to see photos and videos shared with you in Messages. These photos and videos have a chat bubble in the bottom-left corner of the thumbnail. Tap the thumbnail to share the photo or video, save it to your library, or delete it. To hide photos and videos shared with you in Messages, tap the More Options button, then tap Your Photos Only."

We also recommend restarting your device and keeping it updated as those steps assure you have cleared out any minor software issues and are running the most current version.
