External LaCie hard drive sleep mode issue

Hello, I have an external LaCie D2 drive (10TB, USB 3) connected to a MacBook Pro M1 Max with Monterey: even if I unchecked the option "put hard disk to sleep when possible" the drive goes to sleep whenever no app is reading from it: you can continuously hear the sound of waking up-reading-turning off. When I run apps like Lightroom it is a nightmare: to open any single photo I have to wait the disk to wake up and read files.

I'm sure the drive is ok because it used to work perfectly with my 7 years old MacBook Pro (Intel i7); and I have the same issue with other drives.

Tried to change port, change cable, restart, update apps, update MacOS.... no way; even on LaCie support I couldn't find any answer.

Unless LaCie support can come up with a fix via a firmware update, or other recommendation (sounds like they couldn't) you likely won't be seeing new fixes arriving for Monterey as it is now in security/browser update mode with the release of Ventura.
