Why cant i view my bank statements using Safari on my macbook pro

I am running a MacBook Pro 2019 with iOS

Ventura 13.0.1. With the latest ver of Safari v 16.1.

Have no problem downloading the pdfs and reading them away from Safari. But can’t visibly see them in Safari.

The PDF automatically downloads when trying to view only. Have also downloaded Adobe Acrobat and tried to view. But does the same, downloads instead of viewing.

Even tried loading Chrome browser. Which also automatically downloads instead of viewing in the browser.

My first thought was that it may be the bank have changed their web site. It was that I used to be able to view the statements before and even capture any information off the viewed page to add or use in my spreadsheets. They used to offer different formats of download to enable using in personal spreadsheets. But now it just goes straight to a download.

With my other bank and Utility statements I can still view, capture and download any information.

The other issue, which gave me a suspicion of IOS, is after recent updates on my iPhone 13 max in the banks mobile app, the statement’s read ok.

But some of the text characters show as odd looking characters.

I went to the bank and showed them the iPhone screen with the odd looking substituted characters, and asked if they had any problems. I asked them to view the statement on their system. Everything looked normal and the effected characters were ok and displayed as normal. Just hope it’s a glitch in the updates on my iPhone and time will resolve it.
