music stops after a few seconds

My downloaded music on Apple music is stoping after a few seconds. It behaves like this whether I am connected or not to a WIFI. This happens since several weeks. I saw different similar post but no given solution.

I am a Mac user (macOS Monterey, 12.5.1, M1 MAX)

Any idea What I could do ?

Thank you for your support and best regards

Hey michaël195,

We'd be happy to help out. If your Mac isn't playing music as expected, we do notice that you've got new software available for download which might include some fixes to this unexpected behavior with your Music app.

We'd suggest updating your Mac to macOS Ventura 13.0.1 and testing further. For help with updating the software of your Mac, check out these steps:

Use Software Update
Before installing new software, it's a good idea to back up your Mac.
1. From the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen:
• Choose System Settings. Then click General in the sidebar, and Software Update on the right.
• Or choose System Preferences. Then click Software Update.
2. If Software Update finds new software, click the Update Now or Upgrade Now button to install it.

Software Update windowe

3. Enter your administrator password, if asked. During installation, your Mac might restart, and you might see a progress bar or blank screen several times.

If Software Update says that your Mac is up to date, then no new software is currently available for your Mac model. Software Update shows only updates and upgrades that are compatible with your Mac.

All this and more is available here: Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

We hope this helps out.

Take care!

Hi michaël195,

Since this is occurring with music downloaded for offline use, and when streaming, we want to isolate things a bit more. To do so, we have a few questions:

  • Does this seem to occur with all songs?
  • If not, does it continue when you delete and re-add the songs impacted? Delete music in the Apple Music app has those steps for you if needed.

If this seems to impact all or most songs within your library, we'd like to see if the same behavior occurs in a test user. This will also help us determine whether this is a system-wide issue on your Mac. Change Users & Groups settings on Mac covers how to set up a new user on your Mac.

"Create a new user or group.

Click the New Account pop-up menu (you may be asked to enter your password), then choose a type of account.

  • Administrator: An administrator can add and manage other users, install apps, and change settings. The new user you create when you first set up your Mac is an administrator. Your Mac can have multiple administrators. You can create new ones, and convert standard users to administrators. Don’t set up automatic login for an administrator. If you do, someone could simply restart your Mac and gain access with administrator privileges. To keep your Mac secure, don’t share administrator names and passwords.
  • Standard: Standard users are set up by an administrator. Standard users can install apps and change their own settings, but can’t add other users or change other users’ settings.
  • Sharing Only: Sharing-only users can access shared files remotely, but can’t log in to the computer or change settings. To give the user permission to access your shared files or screen, you may need to change options in File Sharing, Screen Sharing, or Remote Management settings. See Set up file sharing and Share the screen of another Mac.
• Group: Groups allow multiple users to have the same access privileges. You control a group’s access to your shared folders by setting access permissions in the File Sharing options in Sharing settings."

After setting up a new user, you'll want to sign into your Apple ID within the Music app and enable Sync Library to access your library using the steps in Access your music library on all your devices.

From there, please test to see if you notice playback issues with music you're streaming, and music downloaded for offline use.

Regards.

Hello michaël195,

Thank you for the reply.

We understand that Apple Music is working as expected in the second user account. To isolate the issue more, we would suggest disabling any login items from your original user account. Please test again after this to find out if Apple Music has improved: Remove login items to resolve startup problems on your Mac - Apple Support

If you continue to notice the same problem in the original user account, we would suggest contacting Apple Support directly for more help.

Thank you.
