I have a Time Capsule down in the basement connected straight with the ethernet cable from fios. From this Time Capsule I have the tower airport extreme on to upper level of the house, also wired as bridge.
Never had a problem for many years but would like to ask if it is obsolete and buy a new setup.
I'm getting 280 mg download and 300 mg upload.

The "tall" 802.11ac devices remain supported whereas all the "flat" 802.11n devices and their predecessors are obsolete.
If everything is working to your satisfaction then there is no need to replace anything.
You didn't ask about them but the "flat" 802.11n AirPort Express remains supported also.

Is The Airport Extreme Still a Good Router?
