I had to let go of an employee that was signed in to his own Apple ID in my company tablet. I have an MDM now but this is the last one I have that is not enrolled. I am trying to mess reset it but it keeps asking for his Apple ID credentials which I do not have. How do I reset this thing to factory settings without his Apple ID credentials? I just want it fresh like it just came off the shelf for a new user so I can get it into Jamf and reissue to another employee.

Thanks for your time.

In that case, the iPad is Activation Locked using the ex-employee’s Apple ID.

If the device is enrolled in Apple Business Manager, you can call AppleCare for Enterprise, tell them what is going on, they will verify the device is enrolled and process an unlock. If the device is not enrolled, you will need to provide the original purchase receipt. If you cannot provide the original receipt, you will need to either contact the former employee and have them unlock the device, or the device will not be able to be reused.
