I am trying to update my to macOS Ventura and a Safari update and get an error message - "Failed to prepare the software update. Please try again."? Ive tried many times, restarted my computer but it still won't update? Any idea why?
This has just happened to me and I suspect that I don't have enough free disk space. I had expected that the update process would tell me that that was the case before it started but it didn't. Subsequently when I restarted the laptop in recovery mode and tried to rebuild the operating system, it did tell me that I was short of space. Now trying to access the disk in Target Disk Mode to free up some space.

I have a brand new MacBook Pro and tried to update to Ventura before transferring any data from my old MacBook. Tried twice and got this error message. So free disk space should not be an issue with me...
