Is there a work around to get my 2020 computer to connect to my iMac as a display? Newer computers should be "allowed" to connect. Help!

If you have a 2020 13" MacBook Pro as your profile indicates, then you can use most any external display.

As mentioned, you can not use your iMac because no 2020 Mac can use an iMac in Target Display Mode.

FWIW, Luna Display is a possible workaround.
Macs are computers they are NOT external displays for other devices. Take VikingOSX's advice, please buy an external display to work with your MBP.
You should be and are allowed to purchase a proper real display for your MacBook Pro. Apple discontinued target display mode, so your 2020 MacBook Pro cannot use your iMac as a display.

... and even when Target Display Mode was available, it was only implemented for a few years before being discontinued.
