Sidecar will not connect to Trusted iPad Pro over usb-c.

I am using:

Mac Mini 2018 3.2ghz i7 on MacOS Ventura 13.0.1

iPad Pro 12.9 3rd Generation on iPadOS 15.6.1

The iPad Pro is connected via usb-c cable directly to a usb-c port on the Mac Mini

Both devices have been restarted.

The Mac Mini is a trusted device, to ensure this, I have reset location and privacy, and re-trusted the computer.

The iPad pro is visible to the Mini in the finder sidebar.

Sidecar will not connect to the iPad when wi-fi is not enabled. My Mac mini is using an Ethernet connection primarily, and although i can enable Wi-Fi, I’d prefer not to.

I am getting the error “Unable to connect to IPad” To use Sidecar, turn on Wi-Fi or connect over USB. I have

I have not found any resolutions online other than to ensure that the device is trusted. Can anyone point me to a link or resolution steps for this issue?

Thanks

Mac mini 2018 or later

Hi Philestyl,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you need help withSidecar. We completely understand why you'd reach out, and are happy to help.

Let's make sure everything is set up correctly: Use an iPad as a second display for a Mac - Apple Support

If it still does not work, let's see if we can isolate this by using a new user account: Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

Please have a look and let us know if this helps!

Cheers!

Hi Merlinapple,

First, thanks for the response. Much appreciated.

Everything seems to be working correctly now. The one thing that happened is that my wife logged onto the machine to do some work (different Apple ID), and when she finished, I logged back onto my user account. Everything has been working correctly since then. Not sure exactly what took place, but here we are.

Thanks again!
