Be aware that the ability to recover messages described in Delete and recover messages on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support applies to iOS 16 or later. It is not an option that is available in iOS 15 shown in the footer of your post.
If you do have iOS 16 or later installed, if you have Filters turned on in Messages it will display Filter instead of Edit and you can access Recently Deleted by tapping Filter instead of Edit.
