import downloads to photo

If I have photos in downloads on my MacBook and I import them to my photos on my MacBook, is it then safe to delete the downloads? and the pictures will still be in photos?

If you are using the default (and generally recommended) setting "Importing: Copy items to the Photos library", then it is safe to delete the downloads.
