I have the iPad Pro 11-in. (4th gen.) and after connecting to the Studio Display by a thunderbolt cable it always mirrors the screen instead of extending.
Is such a functionality actually available in iPadOS 16.1?
Is there any setting or special requirement for extending of the screen to an external monitor?

Basic screen mirroring should be available to an external TV or connected monitor with iPadOS 16.1. However, Stage Manager support for external monitors is not yet available - this feature being planned for release later this year.

Apple has not, as yet, officially added external monitor support to the new iPadOS 16 Stage Manager feature.
Look for Apple to, officially, release the extended monitor support, to the iPadOS 16 Stage Manager feature, in a future iPadOS 16 update.

I saw beta versions of the stage manager in Youtube videos, that’s why I expected that it will work. Let’s wait for further updates in the future.
