the mail icon is gone. going to "extensions for sharing with others" shows me a chrome icon next to mail, but cant be selected. Im having similar issues with powerpoint, word, even pages wont let me share the documents via email.

What your default mail application?
It looks like you may have chosen some google application as your default, instead of Mail.
If that is not what you wanted, and you want Apple Mail to restored as your default mail application, open Mail, and go to Preferences->General, and choose it:
Anyway, the reason that there is no checkbox is because, in principle, sharing to mail is always available.

Yes i had set it to outlook. Although you can select it as the default reader, it's not supported in other apps when you use the share menu.
gone back to trusted mail app. thanks for you support.
It is up to application developers to support extensions, or not. Apparently Outlook does not.
