Macbook Pro 2021 16" screen cracked overnight by itself!
The other night I left my brand new 2021 Macbook Pro on the table overnight to upload some files. The computer was open. In the morning when I went to retrieve it from the table, I noticed a very thin white line running across the top of the screen that looked like pixel failure. Upon closer inspection, I saw what looked like broken/chipped glass on the right side of the screen where the line started. I was in shock, because the computer was absolutely fine the night before - no crack, no line, nothing - perfect screen.
I then remembered that as I was falling asleep, I heard a strange loud cracking noise coming from the other room. It was unusual, and I wondered what it was, but I didn't get up to investigate. I realise now that this must have been my screen cracking - under some mysterious pressure. I have no other explanation for the sound or the crack.
I can't believe that a computer that cost more than my car broke just like that. I dragged my old MBP from 2015 around the planet with me, and besides the notorious UV coating coming off, I never had an issue with the display. And now after a few hours of my computer sitting on my desk it breaks -?!?
Luckily I had the random idea to google this phenomenon, just out of sheer curiosity because I was so flabbergasted, and low and behold - many people have this same problem!
I have an appointment at the apple store tomorrow, they better not try to blame this on me. Is there actually a recall yet? There should be, this is just nuts.
