iCloud Drive "Waiting to Upload" status indicator for the Documents folder does not go away

Even after syncing is complete, the "Waiting to Upload" status indicator for the Documents folder in iCloud Drive in Finder does not go away.

The same thing happened to another folder within the Documents folder, and I was able to resolved the issue by transferring all the contents of the offending folder to a new folder and deleting the offending folder. And now the Documents folder is having the same issue.

I don't want to do the same for the Documents folder since it appears the folder was created by the system. I restarted the Mac and that didn't work.

What would be the best way to get rid of the status indicator for the Documents folder?

Thank you!

Hello mikozoid,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities. We're happy to look into this with you. After a bit of research, we were able to find information about what you're seeing and what this indicates at Get file, folder, and disk information on Mac - Apple Support

Waiting to Upload: The Waiting to Upload status icon  indicates that the folder or file is not yet stored in iCloud.

Just to clarify, do you see any of the documents stored in your Documents folder in iCloud when visiting the iCloud website or on other devices in Files app? This will help us determine if the indicator you're seeing is reporting incorrectly or there's an issue syncing to iCloud.

Have you tried disabling and re-enabling iCloud Drive? This may help to kickstart that process and get syncing back on track. Change your iCloud settings - Apple Support

Best regards.

mikozoid,

Does restarting your Mac help? This can sometimes resolve minor software issues. If you open the folder do you see any particular file that hasn't been uploaded properly? Also is your Mac completely up-to-date? This ensures you have all the latest software fixes and features. You can learn how to update here: Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

Hello Missy5937,

Here is my answer to your question:

Just to clarify, do you see any of the documents stored in your Documents folder in iCloud when visiting the iCloud website or on other devices in Files app?

Yes, I see all the documents stored in my Documents folder in iCloud when visiting the iCloud website or on other devices in Files app. The indicator I'm seeing is reporting incorrectly. There's no issue syncing to iCloud.

Thank you!
