Airpods Pro 2 Audio/Connection Issue

Hello,

I am having random issues with my Airpods Pro 2.

This is my 2nd pair. The first pair was replaced by the nice people at my local Apple Store.

Unfortunately I am still having same 3 issues with my first pair of Airpods Pro 2.

  1. Device random disconnect (the chime noise plays) even though it is still in my ear.
  2. Audio will cut off but the music, Youtube video or phone call is still going on.
  3. Audio will randomly shift L to R vice versa when listening. No I am not talking about Spatial audio.

Model# A2618

Version: 5A377

I believe it is firmware issue that is causing these problems. But the people at the Apple Store replaced it anyways.

Is anyone having the same issues as I am? Anyone know if any future updates will be getting these fixed? I do see many articles online about the Airpods Pro 2 having these issues.

Hey there inertial_drift,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. To get started, it does appear that a firmware update would be available for your AirPods Pro (2nd generation) at this time. Since updating can often bring the latest bug fixes, we would recommend trying to update your AirPods with the steps shown here: About firmware updates for AirPods - Apple Support

While updates are delivered to your AirPods automatically, your AirPods would need to be charging and in Bluetooth range of your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

If still having issues after the firmware has been updated, we'd also recommend resetting your AirPods with the steps from this next resource here: How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support

1. Put your AirPods in their charging case, and close the lid.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Open the lid of your charging case.
4. With your AirPods in your ears and connected to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > Bluetooth, or Settings > [your AirPods], and tap the More Info button  next to your AirPods. If you don't see your AirPods in Settings > Bluetooth or in Settings > [your AirPods], just go to the next step.
5. Tap Forget This Device, and tap again to confirm.
6. With the lid open, press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light on the front of the case flashes amber, then white.*
7. Reconnect your AirPods: With your AirPods in their charging case and the lid open, place your AirPods close to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Follow the steps on your device's screen.

Keep us updated on the results after going through the steps above, and we'll continue from there.

Have a great day!
