Alarm no longer sounds when in sleep focus with iOS 16.1 iPhone 14 Pro

I have set up an alarm in the native Apple Alarm to wake me at 7:30 AM. I have sleep focus set from 10PM to 8AM each day. This combination has worked for years. Since upgrading to iOS 16.1, there is no longer a sound emitted at 7:30 when the alarm is supposed to ring. I can see on the Lock Screen the alarm has triggered, but there is no audible alarm. Sound is on, I do not have it on silent. I do not own an Apple Watch and it is not connected to an external speaker. Any fix?

Hi SNYDC,

Do you hear other alarms or sounds from your iPhone 14 Pro without any issues? Knowing if this is only happening with that specific alarm or with multiple sounds can help determine possible next steps.

Also, if you haven't yet, you could try restarting your iPhone 14 Pro to see if that may help. Restarting can refresh the iOS and help resolve unexpected issues. If needed, the steps below show how to restart:

"How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later

  1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
  2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
  3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo."

SNYDC,

To help further isolate the issue, let's try setting a new alarm and see if the issue also occurs. To set a new alarm, please follow these steps from the article below:

How to set and change alarms on your iPhone

How to set an alarm
1. Open the Clock app, then tap the Alarm tab.
2. Tap the Add button .
3. Set a time for the alarm. You can also choose one of these options:
•Repeat: Tap to set up a recurring alarm.
•Label: Tap to name your alarm.
•Sound: Tap to pick a sound that plays when the alarm sounds.
•Snooze: Turn on to see a Snooze option when the alarm sounds.
4. Tap Save.

Thanks!

Have a great day.

We appreciate you letting us know, SNYDC,

If you choose a different alert sound for the alarm, are you able to hear the new alert or does this happen no matter what alert sound you choose?

If you need help to change your alarm sound, this article will guide you: How to set and change alarms on your iPhone

How to edit an alarm
1. Open the Clock app and tap the Alarm tab.
2. Tap Edit in the upper-left corner.
3. Tap the alarm, make your changes, then tap Save.

If you're still experiencing the same behavior after adjusting the alert type, we'd suggest that you contact Apple directly to investigate this further with you. They'd be best suited to investigate this further with you. You can reach them here: Apple Support

Kind regards.

Thank you, yes I have deleted and recreated the alarm. I also recreated the alarm (after restarting my phone again) and used a preloaded ringtone. That worked, I could hear the alarm. So I then deleted that alarm and created a new one using the downloaded song I had been previously using prior to the iOS upgrade. The alarm rang, but with a ringtone and not the song. The song showed up on the Lock Screen but did not play, just the ringtone. I tried this three times and receive the same result, a ringtone playing, but not the song with the song selected.

Hello,

Yes other notifications work. This is the alarm in the native Apple Alarm where the stopwatch, timer and world clock are located, not within the Health App. I have sleep focus turned on from 10PM to 8AM and the alarm set for 0730AM. Prior to the update to 16.1 it worked fine in that configuration. My Notifications in Sleep Focus still allows for selected contacts to ring through and that works fine. It’s just the alarm that does not work now.

I have restarted my phone multiple times as well.

Hello there

Yes I have already set new alarms. I have also deleted all old alarms and created a new one. No Change. I forgot to add earlier, when I wake up and the alarm is set, I see on the Lock Screen the alarm and the stop and snooze buttons, but the alarm has not sounded. I checked the silent switch on the side of the phone and it is not activated, the sound is a song and when I select it it plays loudly, the volume on all other apps and the phone are fine.
