I can no longer delete a contact from a group

I can't seem to be able to delete a contact from a group in Contacts; I used to be able to click on the name and a window would appear where I could delete just from the group, or delete the entire card from my contacts. Now, nothing happens, other than the sound my MacBook Pro makes when a keystroke doesn't work.

Right-clicking doesn't work, there is nothing in the toolbar. I'm stumped...

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, tipsam,

We understand you're having trouble deleting a contact. We'd be happy to provide information to help you address this.

If this contact is stored in a third-party account, have a look at the information here:

Delete contacts in Contacts on Mac

"You can’t delete contacts in read-only accounts such as Google and Yahoo; you must delete the contacts directly in Google or Yahoo, for example.

If you don’t want to see contacts from a specific account, stop using the account in Contacts. To do so, choose Contacts > Accounts, select the account, then deselect its Contacts checkbox. If you want to see the contacts again, select the checkbox again."

Regards.
