How to hide extensions in Ventura?

I upgraded to Ventura, and since then, when saving a document, it shows the file extension. How do I get it to hide the extensions when saving?

When saving a file, look for an icon within the "Save As" window. One of the icons may have an option to show the file extension or hide it. Sometimes you need to expand the window to get these icons. However, some SaveAs dialogs do not have this icon nor the "show/hide extension". This feature is poorly implemented anyway. I like to have the file extensions shown, but don't want to see every extension such as those for app bundles (very annoying). However, once I select "Show extension" in the SaveAs dialog box, every subsequent Save will usually save the extension, but when clicking the icon in the SaveAs dialog, it will still say otherwise.

Click on the icon circled in red in this screenshot. The file extension toggle option is usually the bottom entry on the list. I would show it, but I'm not on a Mac at the moment and this was the first picture I came across.

Some applications will automatically hide the saved/exported document extension and others will always show it. Hiding all extensions can add even more confusion as to what kind of document you have in the Finder.

A good example of this is a multipage Pages document and its exported PDF. There is nothing on either icon to help you determine what type of document is present unless you take the extra step of a Get Info on the icon to see its Kind, or its name/extension, or perform a Quick Look to observe the default opening application. All of that would be unnecessary with the extension shown.

If you have a light wallpaper and extra keen eyesight, you might be able to discern a slight black binding on the multipage PDF that is not present on the source Pages document.

Thanks for your reply. I have read that, but it doesn't help me. Maybe I need to be more specific in what I'm looking to do. Before the upgrade, I would hit command-S to save the document. I'd chose the folder, chose the name, then click on Save, or just hit enter. When looking at the file in Finder, the extension was hidden. I hit command-I to bring up the info, and the Hide File Extension is checked. Now, doing the same thing, the extension is shown, and pulling up the info shows the Hide File Extension unchecked. I want to get back to having all file extensions hidden by default.
