You need to purchase the $9 U.S.D. adapter from Apple.

Trying to pair an Apple Pencil to a new 10th gen Ipad and the cables won't match up. Am I missing something? Hi all. I recently purchased a 1st Gen Apple Pencil and a new 10th Gen ipad. I know I need to use an adapter to get them to connect, but why won't the USB C cable that came with the ipad connect to the adapter? Am I missing something? Do I need yet another kind of cable that I don't own? This is a tad frustrating. Thanks all!
