Cant update Macbook pro 2018 Big Sur 11.7.1 (20G918) to Ventura

Hello. Apple tells me I can update my Macbook pro 2018 Big Sur 11.7.1 (20G918) to Ventura. It downloads, starts the whole process. But after being downloaded and installed, instead of showing the new operating system I still have Big Sur. Have done the process a couple of times, same thing happens.

Any ideas?

Can you explain what you're doing to update? Are you updating from the third-party hard drive? Are you just downloading the new operating system and launching it from your computer?

The reason I ask is there's a lot of issues with third-party hard drives right now and the update so if you could walk me through exactly what you're doing to update the software and confirm with me that you have enough space, and also share anyThe reason I ask is there's a lot of issues with third-party hard drives right now and the update so if you could walk me through exactly what you're doing to update the software and confirm with me that you have enough hard drive space, and also share any logs error logs that occurred during the update

Update macOS Ventura in Safe Mode

When you are already in a good wifi connection, enough Mac free storage space, and compatible Mac models, but it still fails to update macOS Ventura. You need to consider updating macOS Ventura in safe mode, which provides a clean and secure system environment for installing upgrades.

It’s easy to access the Safe Mode: Start up your Intel-based Mac in safe mode( Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key until you see the login window. Log in to your Mac, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.). Start up your Mac with Apple silicon in safe mode( Shut down your Mac, press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears. Select a volume. Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode. Log in to your Mac, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.)

And then start to update macOS Ventura in Safe Mode.

macOS Ventura Update Place

Generally, there are two ways that can help us find the place to update Mac to macOS Ventura. Click System Preferences icon on the dock, access Software Update -> Checking for update to download and install macOS Ventura. Or open Mac App Store application and search and find “macOS Ventura”, click the GET button to download and install.

macOS Ventura Update Compatible

If you still can't find macOS Ventura update in the above two places, please check your Mac model. Click the Apple () menu -> About This Mac. macOS Ventura needs iMac 2017 and later, MacBook Pro 2017 and later, MacBook Air 2018 and later, iMac Pro 2017, MacBook 2017, Mac mini 2018 and later, Mac Pro 2019 and later, Mac Studio 2022.

Hello. I am not using any third-party hard drive. All I do is click on the Apple icon on the top left corner of my screen. Then click on about this mac and then on software update. It always starts the process by downloading Ventura. It even goes beyond that after downloading it, it starts installing it. But somehow it never installed. It does not show any errors of any kind.
