Should I Replace My 10 Year Old MacBook Pro?

Hope you can help and advise me.

I have a 10 year old MacBook Pro (late 2012 - first 13" retina model) and whilst it's still going strong apart from a couple of dead keys (I use an external keyboard to get round this) and a low battery life I'm asking if I should replace it to stay secure online?

I understand Apple continue supporting machines for two generations of new OS releases after the last version a machine can take, and mine will go beyond this with the latest OS (I have Catalina). My concern is does my Mac become possibly vulnerable to online nasties if it's no longer supported?

If I can continue with it I will for a little longer but if not I'm happy to upgrade - 10 years is pretty good service! In fact, just for the record I've been using Macs for 17 years and this is only my second machine.

Thanks for your help.
