Pairing new Apple Watch Ultra

Having just upgraded to the Ultra watch, it arrived today. I unpaired my previous watch, selected Start Pairing on the iPhone and scanned the new Ultra. However, after about 30 secs a brief error message flashes and the phone switches to Unpairing Apple Watch and then takes me back to the beginning. After several attempts, I managed to screenshot the error message as it flashes up and I have included below.

Frustratingly, if I select the upgrade option during pairing, the same error occurs.

If you're unable to complete the pairing process on an Apple Watch, you can try these steps: If you can't pair an Apple Watch with your iPhone


Before the pairing you'll also want to make sure that the iPhone is running the current software. At this time, that would be iOS 16.1. You can navigate to Settings > General > Software Update, to check the version you're currently running.


If you've exhausted those steps and the watch still won't pair, you'd want to contact Apple to report the issue:  Get Support.
