AirPod pros won’t verify when they are real

After updating my phone to IOS 16, I tried to pair my AirPod pros (1st Gen) and it says that it can’t verify them. I typed I my serial number on the Apple website and it says it’s a real pair. I don’t know how to fix this please help!

iPhone 11, iOS 16

Apple support's article

If you get a 'Cannot Verify AirPods' alert - Apple Support

says:

You can choose to not connect your unverified AirPods, or to connect them in Bluetooth settings.

or

Now that you have verified your AirPods, as the article says, perhaps they will connect without error.

Else:

Seems you could connect them in Bluetooth settings either way.

or

May be a reset would help:

How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro

If you haven't already, you might want to try wearing your AirPods,

and

on iPhone:   Try Settings > Bluetooth > tap "Not Connected"

Hope something here can help :-)

Troubleshooting AirPod Info:

A. Start here: If you see an alert that says "AirPods Mismatch" - Apple Support

B. Verifying Genuine AirPods:

  1. Get the Serial Number: Find the Serial Number of your AirPods - Apple Support
  2. Enter the Serial Number here: https://checkcoverage.apple.com/.
  3. View the Results: If all shows up as an AirPod, then you are fine. If not, then these are fake, and that is likely why you are getting the issue of connectivity.

C. Getting the Original Date of Purchase:

Did you purchase AppleCare with these? If so, enter the serial number here: https://checkcoverage.apple.com/. It will give you a date of when it renews (on the boom of the page). If not, contact Apple Support, proving them with the Serial Number (see below). If permitted, the Apple Rep would tell you over the phone. Provide them wit the Serial Number when calling.

D. A Glitch in Apple's Device Database?

I would contact Apple Support, asking them if there is a glitch in their user database. You should not be getting this message, if they have already been repaired. If these are used, then that may be why this is occurring.

Apple Contact Info:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there, as necessary
  • Why the Wait: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)
