Greetings AlienPsyTing,

Are you able to access the recovery partition using any other key combo? If you haven’t tried, let’s do that now. Instead of forcing Internet Recovery, we’d like to ask you to attempt to start up holding the Command and R keys only. However, if the built-in Recovery system is invalid or missing, your Mac mini will revert to using Internet Recovery instead. How to reinstall macOS

If need be, do you have access to another Mac that you could attempt to make a bootable installer from? Are you attempting to install macOS High Sierra or another macOS/Mac OS X version?

Thanks.

Hi there

Thank you for the quick reply

I have found out the problem(s)

First, I pulled the HDD and placed it on a USB to SATA interface and plugged it onto my PC as I'm predominatly PC based. The SMART monitoring (Acronis Drive Monitor) who some degradation to 91% with re-vectored blocks.

Then I rebooted to recovery console and ran Disk Utility which needed to do some repairs but when I tried to install Lion it baulked at doing it so I ran Safari but got nowhere so did a time and date from the console and it was way out, so the CMOS batt had died and I had to use datectl to set up date and time the only problem was that when I tried a lion install over the net it kept asking for appl iD and password and even though they were correct it wouldn't let me go any further so I'm stuck ATM and am trying to make a bootable OSX installer on my PC
