You would be best advised to seek assistance directly from from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Get Support link at top-right of this page.

Alternatively, if you have access to another Apple device, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to assist:

You should repeat the update attempt when you are connected to WiFi. While update is technically supported over a 5G Cellular connection, performing the update over a conventional WiFi/Internet connection is more likely to be successful.

These support pages outline both the available methods by which the update can be performed - and troubleshooting should you experience difficulties:

In some circumstances you may need to perform the update using a computer. To do so, you will need access to either a Windows PC (with iTunes for Windows installed) or a Mac (with iTunes or Finder - as appropriate for the installed version of MacOS). Ensure that your installed version of iTunes has been updated to the most recent version; the essential device drivers are included.

If you have a beta profile installed, ensure this has been removed from your iPad - as, otherwise, installation of production software updates may be inhibited. This support page provides the necessary information to remove the beta from your iPad:

You should note that for your iPad to install an available update, its battery must be charged to at least 50% capacity - and/or be connected to its Power Adapter.

To reiterate, your iPad does not appear to be connected to WiFi.

If you do have an available WiFi network, perform a forced-restart of the iPad:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

Can you, please, confirm what year and model iPad do you have/own?

The “A” model number can be found on the aluminium back of your iPad, in very small print, right under the larger bold print “iPad” on the back of the iPad.

AND/OR

Supply the “M” model number, which can be found in the Settings app, under the General settings panel, then tap About.

What iOS/iPadOS version is this iPad, currently, running?

What is the rated, internal data storage space/capacity of your iPad model and how much of this free, internal data storage capacity is left inside of your iPad model?

All of that additional info can, also, be found in the Settings app, General settings panel, About.

Please try to make an attempt to answer all questions asked.

Thank You.

You need to get started with that iPad using a direct wireless, WiFi connection from a source, like a wireless, WiFi MODEM/router box that get its Internet access from an Internet Service Provider.

Using a Wifi hotspot from a cellular smart phone connection from a cellular service provider will NOT work.

You need to find a source for a direct WiFi connection to the Internet from a router box that gets its Internet Service from an Internet Service Provider.

Places that offer free Wifi or another family or freind’s home that use a home wireless, WiFi network box connection

OR

Even Apple.

Search online to locate and call contact your nearest, “local” Apple Store location to try/attempt to make an appointment to get your Apple iPad upgraded/updated and fully operational.

OR, alternatively, use the “Get Support” link, at the upper right hand corner of every Apple Support Community Webpage to attempt to schedule an appointment with your nearest Apple Store location.

Apple Store employees will be glad to help/assist you.
