Texts on ultra series 8 watch

my watch is paired to my phone, airplane and don’t disturb is off. Every time my phone rings my watch rings. Every time I get a text on my phone I get a text on my watch but I don’t always get a notification that I received a text. Any idea why?? I can’t pin point the issue of of sometimes getting the notification and sometimes not. Appreciate any help.
