TextEdit "File is locked" "You do not have permission"

I have a TextEdit file which is not locked, yet I keep getting this message (or similar):

"The document “xxxxxxx” could not be autosaved.

You do not have permission. The file is locked."

It tells me to do a "Get Info" on the file, which I do.

I click the "Lock" icon, add my password,, and check everything,

In the Name and Privilege section all 3 options are marked "Read & Write"

Nothing appears to be wrong

When I try to close the file, again I get the same message and go into an endless

circle of getting info, etc. etc...

Sometimes it works but mostly it doesn't. Very frustrating!

I would appreciate if someone might have an answer to the problem?

TIA
