New MacBook with Ventura doesn't recognize that I have a *** in the USB reader.

Hello, I have a brand new MacBook Pro with Ventura that recognizes I have a card reader attached to USB, but the computer won't read the certificates from the chip on my Common Access Card so that I can access protected websites. I have tried 3 different card readers. Thank you.
