Mail app crashes after 16.1 update

Hi, I have just updated my IPad Pro M1 12.9 to iOS 16.1 and Mail app (native app for IPad) doesn’t work anymore. It crashes as soon as I open it. Anyone experienced this issue? Any suggestion? Thanx in advance.

Hello PotchART,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities. We're happy to look into this with you. We understand that you're having issues with the Mail app on your iPad. Have you tried using the suggestions provided here: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open - Apple Support? If not, this is a great place to start, working towards a solution.

1. Close and reopen the app
Force the app to close. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

2. Restart your device
Restart your iPhone or restart your iPad. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

3. Check for updates
To see if updates are available for the app, open the App Store, tap your profile icon, then scroll down to see if updates are available. If updates aren't available for the app, update the software on your iPhone or iPad.

4. Delete the app, then redownload it
Delete the app. When you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app. Then redownload the app. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

Best regards.

Hi PotchART,

Some iOS apps can be deleted just as third-party installed app. Mail can be deleted and reinstalled from the App Store.

1. Touch and hold the app.
2. Tap Remove App Remove App icon.
An iPhone screen showing the menu that appears when you touch and hold an app. Remove App is the third option in the menu.
3. Tap Delete App, then tap Delete to confirm.

Delete apps on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

You can find a full list of built-in apps that can be deleted in Delete built-in Apple apps from the Home Screen on your iOS 14 or later or iPadOS device or Apple Watch.

Regards.
