Can’t see pictures in Messages

Hi! I just got my new 14 Pro yesterday and I cannot see pictures via texts. MMS is on. I attached a screenshot of what I see instead of a picture. Does anyone know what the problem is? thanks!

wellalexsays,

What happens when you tap the photo icon in the conversation? Does it download? This can help tell us if the photo is accessible.

Sometimes powering off and restarting can help refresh your iPhone and fix these types of issues. Please follow the steps below to complete this:

1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
The volume button is located on the left side of the device, and the side button is located on the right

2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.

Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

After restarting, have someone send a photo and see if it loads in the conversation.

Take care.

Hi wellalexsays,

We'll be happy to help with the issue you're having, and congratulations on your new iPhone! There's a few things we would want to check, since you mentioned the device is new. First and foremost, is the issue happening with both iMessage and SMS messages? If the issue is happening with iMessage, you may want to double check that you're signed into FaceTime and iMessage, and your number is selected for sending and receiving messages.

Are the pictures you aren't seeing from previous messages you received before you switched devices? If so, the messages may still be restoring if you transferred your data to your new device.

Is the issue happening with only SMS messages? This could indicate an issue with your cellular service provider, or your cellular data settings.

We've provided a few links below to help guide you.

  1. If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone or iPad
  2. If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime
  3. Add or remove your phone number in Messages or FaceTime

Cheers!
