Moving from 1Password 8 to Keychain...how?

1Password used to be convenient, but now it is complex and frustrating (when it isn't simply annoying). In the meantime, Keychain has become more capable. Time to switch?

How can I move all my 1Password 8 information—passwords, notes, attachments, etc.—to Keychain? Any downsides to making this move? Also, how do I avoid duplicating info that's already in Keychain?

I understand this may be a long and non-trivial process...is it worth it?

Here's how I did it with LastPass: I engaged Keychain and left LastPass running. Whenever I went to a website which needed logging in I let LastPass do the job but Keychain asked if I wanted to save the info for that web page. I kept at this for several weeks until I was sure that I had visited all the sites that needed logging into. I then disengaged LastPass and went with KeyChain only. Should work with 1 Password also.

Also, I keep a password protected Filemaker Pro database of all passwords, the sites or devices their related to, and any other info.

I'm not sure if you can transfer your passwords. I would check the help menus of Keychain and 1Password 8 to see if they have any import/export information for you to use. Otherwise you will have to just delete the 1Password 8 app and as you visit sites, enter their passwords for Keychain to record. Note; before deleting 1Password 8, be sure to write down its passwords. I also keep an Excel file with all of my user IDs and passwords for quick reference when needed.
