Safely changing Sim card

I recently changed mobile providers and the new company mailed me a new SIM card that I need to install. My device is an iPhone 11. How do I safely change cards without loosing my photos. Contacts, text messages and all emails, read and unread? I know my phone backs up automatically but dies that protect all those things?
