F1 TV works with sound but no video

Hi,

I know this question has been asked before yet no one has answered yet. I have a macbook pro m1 and I use extra monitors with it. If I undock for the monitors I get the video but if I attach the monitors I no longer get the video. This even happens if I put the video screen in the "main" screen, not the "extra. Is this some DRM thing that is preventing it?

Hello Curlboy,

Welcome back to Apple Support Communities!

We want to help get the display working normally.

Try these steps for a display issue:

"If your external display isn't detected or appears blurry when connected to your Mac

Try these steps if the image on an external display connected to your Mac is blank or doesn't look the way you expect.

Before you begin

Make sure that your Mac is running the latest version of macOS."

This Apple Support page has the full details: If your external display isn't detected or appears blurry when connected to your Mac - Apple Support

If the issue remains, does this only happen with F1 TV? Is this an app or website, or something else?

You might try contacting the developer if it only happens with the one app or website.

We hope this helps to further isolate the issue.

Cheers!

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, Curlboy,

We understand you've notice that you're unable to see video from F1 TV when using external monitors. We'd be happy to provide information about this.

First, you'll need to identify which MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon you have. As some models can only support one display. You can check at Apple  Logo > About this Mac > Overview tab.

Then, use this page and find your MacBook Pro, and select the appropriate Tech Specs link.

Then, check for how many displays your MacBook Pro supports.

For example, if you have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020), the Tech Specs show:

Display Support
Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display at millions of colors and:
• One external display with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz

If you determine that your MacBook Pro is a model which supports more than one display connected at the same time, continue with the below steps:

Since it's hard to say what restrictions the developers of F1 TV have in place, you can do some tests to see if it continues. First, check if you're able to play a video correctly in safe mode:

How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

How to use safe mode
Apple silicon
1. Shut down your Mac.
2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”
4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.

If the issue persists in safe mode, test in another user account:
