Homekit devices not responding

Hi!

So all my homekit device (only some light accessories, bedlamps, led strip) is working fine.

I can control from iphone or ipad and apple TV 4k (this is the hub) inside and outside everything is working like a charm.

But if i power on my M1 Mac Mini things going wrong and all my accessory losing connection and dont responding on any device in Home app and dedicated 3rd party apps. Mac mini is connected with wifi and ethernet cable too. I tried only wifi or only ethernet not success.

Trying restarting devices, same. I tried reset re-add devices, turning off/on icloud home but same issue. If i cut off and restrart the hub (ATV 4k) things working fine again on all device, mac mini too and control accessories like a cupple of minutes but after that the same not responding.

Tried on Monterey and now on Ventura but same issue.

If i power of my Mac everything is working fine again.

Im out of ideas. Anyone have experiencet this before or any suggestion or idea?

Thanks

Mac mini 2018 or later

Hi reaim,

If your Home devices disconnect from the network when you turn on your Mac, check the network setting for your Mac and make sure the location is set as Automatic by following How to use network locations on your Mac:

  1. "In macOS Monterey or earlier, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Network.
  2. The Location pop-up menu shows the name of your currently selected set of network settings. The default location is named Automatic. Choose Edit Locations from this menu.
  3. Click the add (+) button below the list of locations, then type a name for the new location, such as Work or Home or Mobile. (To remove a location, use the remove (–) button below the list.)
  4. Click Done. The Location menu should now show the name of your new location. Any changes you now make to your Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or other network settings will be saved to this location when you click Apply. The network settings in your previous location remain as you left them, so you can use the Location menu to switch back at any time.
  5. Click Apply to save your settings and complete the switch from the previous location to the new one. Your Mac then automatically tries to determine the correct settings for each type of network. If you need to change the settings manually, remember to click Apply again after making your changes."

Thanks for getting back to us, reaim.

Try to see if the same thing occurs booting into safe mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

"Safe mode prevents your Mac from loading certain software as it starts up, including login items, system extensions not required by macOS, and fonts not installed by macOS. It also does a basic check of your startup disk, similar to using First Aid in Disk Utility. And it deletes some system caches, including font caches and the kernel cache, which are automatically created again as needed.

Apple silicon

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
  3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”
  4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again."

This can help us narrow things down.

Keep us updated.

Best regards.

Update:

I figured out, the issue is Private relay, if i turn off private relay home devices working, a bit slow but working and dont mess the connection with other devices, but i dont know how this function mess up the connection between other devices and home devices and their wifi connection. I thought so far its just hide my ip (on the internet, not from my home network bc my router already see the mac ip) and my traffic on internet or just in safari. And if i turn on private relay on iphone its just working without issue.

Anyway Thanks for the help for all!

Update Update:

I re-enable Private relay and now all working without issues so its weird
