My iphone7 says it is searching for service, it will not progress past this mode

My iPhone 7 had no service for a long time, and now I have it "searching for service," with no progress? I cannot get calls, make calls, or text/receive texts.

If you see No Service, Searching, or SOS on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
